DURDLE DOOR

The Jurassic Coast

Discover Dorset’s World Heritage Coast

Small groups using a car or minibus can opt for a route following more rural routes and locations.  Walking tours along sections of the coast are an ideal way to experience this outstanding area. Walking tours along sections of the coast are an ideal way to experience this outstanding area.

On your tour you can
  • View the vast expanse of Poole Harbour, bustling with boats and birds and the wide heathlands of the Isle of Purbeck; once haunt of Vikings and pirates. Drive the stunning coastal road of Lyme Bay past medieval monasteries, thatched cottages and seaside towns.

  • Admire Corfe Castle; a Royal Castle impregnable to arms, captured by treachery.

  • Take a walking tour to explore dramatic coastal formations at Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door.

  • Imagine sea-water bathing with George III on the Esplanade at Weymouth and take in the scale of Chesil Beach and the rocky remoteness of the Isle of Portland.

  • Follow the literary links looking out to sea on Cobb at Lyme Regis and search for fossils or souvenirs in this lovely seaside town.

  • Enjoy local seafood, or perhaps a cream tea and farmhouse ice-cream at our stops along the way.
